With the Illawarra escarpment as a backdrop, Scarborough Public School sits perched on a headland overlooking the Tasman Sea. It is a small heritage listed school located in the northern suburbs of Wollongong, catering for approximately 80 students and its community. We are very fortunate to be part of a friendly and supportive community that is very family orientated, and one which takes an active interest in the education of its children. Parents of students from other areas regularly seek out the special features, services and programs the school provides. The atmosphere of the school is warm and welcoming, a mood which is reinforced by the historical charm of the building and the attractive physical environment bordered by trees and gardens. The Annual Art and Craft Show, held here each October, is highly respected and anticipated community event. The school has consistently demonstrated a commitment to continually improving the quality of service we are able to provide to our local community. We offer a relevant, balanced and challenging curriculum focusing on the six Key Learning Areas and reflect the community's core values and high expectations in respect to academic excellence, sporting and cultural opportunities, and environmental sustainability. Curriculum implementation is supported by ready access to the latest technology with all rooms networked, with interactive whiteboards and a computer lab. Students are encouraged to value individuality, creativity, respect, empathy, commitment and responsibility in an environment where learning is treasured. We support students to develop resilience and independence. Our classrooms are vibrant, creative and innovative, collaborative and inclusive, relevant and well-resourced.
