Established in 1929, Burwood Girls High School has a long tradition of excellence and innovation. The school is situated 10 kms from Sydney CBD and in 2008-2009 had refurbishments to improve the library, technology facilities and specialist areas for dance, drama, PE and science. A soccer field and multipurpose courts were completed in 2009. The school, population 1080, caters for a culturally diverse community and parents have high expectations of the school. The school maintains an excellent learning focus in all curriculum areas and achieves outstanding results in external examinations at stages 5 and 6. There is a strong performing arts program both in dance and band. The school's purpose statement is widely displayed and is the rationale for all learning programs.
