Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College, Alice Springs, is quite remarkable in that it features Catholic co-education, from Transition to Year 12, for a thousand students, across three campuses. Each campus focuses on particular age levels of the students, and as a consequence provides a systematic approach to learning, co-responsibility, moral and social development. As a Catholic school, the learning environment and philosophy of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College is shaped by Gospel values and the motto, 'Justice, Love and Peace'. Every effort is made to encourage the faith development of the children. All staff members, students, and their parents/guardians are expected to support this ethos. Our vision for the College is to: Foster a safe and friendly environment where everyone is valued and accepted; Nurture the whole person, emphasizing honesty, mutual respect, compassion and tolerance; Educate students to act responsibly and courageously; Develop leadership and encourage initiative; Promote excellence in all areas of education and a life-long love of learning. The College provides a rich and diverse curriculum and where possible accesses sporting, academic, cultural and religious opportunities, locally, with the Northern Territory, and beyond. Courses for the senior students are directed by the Northern Territory Education Department and these are supplemented by pre-Apprenticeship and Vocational Training options. A pastoral care programme operates as each campus and staff members work together to provide optimum learning conditions for the students. The Parents and Friends Association of the College provide a marvelous support network and the school is a member of the Association of Marist schools of Australia.
