Bakewell Primary and Preschool is located in the suburb of Bakewell in the city of Palmerston NT. The school has a significant proportion of students from Defence families, Indigenous students and students from families speaking languages other than English. The school aims to provide an inclusive culture that respects others and helps children to grow strong both academically and socially. This is encapsulated in the school motto, Strive and Grow with Respect and Cooperation and the school values of Responsibility, Respect, Trust, Growth and Safety. The school places a strong focus on quality learning outcomes for all particularly Literacy and Numeracy. Various resources eg First Steps Reading and Writing, PM Reading Benchmarks, Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar, Nelson Maths are used to support whole school Literacy and Numeracy approaches. Other areas of focus cover the ICT program, Primary Connections Science, Music/Arts program and PE program. Diverse learning support programs are provided and include Special Education, ESL General Support, Literacy and Numeracy Tutors assisting in classes, Quicksmart Maths and Early Childhood Communicating to be Heard program.
