McKinnon Primary School's purpose is to provide the best possible education for every student in an exciting, challenging and rewarding environment. To be at the leading edge of learning through a commited staff who maintain the highest standards of knowledge, skill and care for all students. In 2008, McKinnon received Candidate Status through the International Baccaulareate Organisation to implement the Primary Years Programme and the school will be seeking full Accreditation Status in 2011. McKinnon has 53 equivalent full-time staff: 3 Principal class, 43 teachers and 7 Education Support Staff. McKinnon Primary School has a strong commitment to nurture each child - as a person, as a learner and as a globally responsible citizen. A positive environment is established to encourage the development of co-operative learning, self motivation, risk taking, decision making and problem solving. The school community is actively involved in all aspects of school life, whether it be School Council, Parents' Club, classroom helpers, fundraising and social activities. A learning partnership is established between the teacher, parent and student, where student-led conferences establish future learning goals.
