Newport Lakes Primary School is a dynamic Prep - Year 6 learning community, situated in the city of Hobsons Bay. The school has experienced an increase in enrolments over the past 5 years and currently has 272 students enrolled. This growth in enrolments also represents a change in the demographic of the school community. School Council is proactive in planning for the future and providing a safe and attractive learning environment for all students. In 2011 we introduced Indonesian as our Language Other Than English (LOTE), all students are also taught music, physical education and art each week. The school offers students the opportunity to participate in choir, school band and sporting teams. In 2011 we have twelve classes operating and three graduate teachers have joined our staff. The school has 16.4 equivalent fulltime staff,1 Principal class, 15.4 teachers and 8 Educational Support Staff. We are proud of our students' achievements and are committed to improving the learning opportunities for every child in every classroom. Our staff are encouraged to be 'life long learners' and ongoing professional development opportunities are offered to all staff. We value the relationship we have with our families and our aim is to develop a student centred community striving for excellence with strong links beyond the school.
