Since its establishment in 1962, Wingham High School has gained a reputation for students achieving at the highest levels in all areas of academic, sporting, cultural and technological pursuits. That achievement is consistently recognised through the Endeavour Scheme and formal excellence assemblies and is supported by effective well-being programs, a Students' Representative Council, P and C and School Council. In 2002 the school community developed a set of core values which aimed to enhance quality relationships and those core values now underpin much of the school's operation. The school has excellent facilities for disabled students, a large multipurpose centre, three tennis courts, two sporting ovals and a farm enterprise concentrating on beef cattle production which enables student participation in cattle judging and showing. In 2010/11, refurbishment of one of the school's kitchens to commercial standard, the establishment of an industry-standard Construction facility and the completion of a Language centre will enhance the educational facilities. Innovative approaches to planning and timetabling allow senior students to access the full range of traditional courses as well as TAFE and vocational education, Career Link and school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.
