Lake Illawarra High school is situated in Shellharbour City, south of Wollongong adjacent to the beautiful Lake Illawarra. The school offers a broad curriculum ranging from the most challenging academic subjects to a number of vocational education programs. Many students access TAFE courses as part of their senior studies and some students undertake school based traineeships and apprenticeships. Each year one of our finest achievements is the high percentage of Year 12 students who gain University entry. Indeed in 2009 36% of students gained entry to University. The school offers very successful programs in the creative arts and in sport and has a proud reputation in both these areas. Lake Illawarra High encourages the development of important leadership skills through the Student Representative Committee and the Sport Committee. A strong careers programme involves students from their early years and aims to ensure all students have a positive future on leaving school.
