Great Southern Grammar was opened in 1999 as a Christian coeducational residential and day school for students of the Great Southern region. The School's mission is to provide young people of the Great Southern region and beyond a world class school incorporating a liberal education, the Christian faith and a maritime heritage. A broad and balanced education is provided through inspiring academic and cocurricular programmes delivered by an outstanding staff. Children are supported in their learning by specialists in learning support and gifted education. The Middle School provides opportunities for students to experience gender specific classes. The School is proud of the achievements of its graduates with excellent results evident in both TEE courses and VET programmes. It also boasts a comprehensive sports programme and is considered to be the leading provider of music education in the Great Southern. Boarding students and families are supported by a committed, well qualified and caring staff in houses that have the feel of a (very large) family home. Known as the 'School of the Sea', Great Southern Grammar, located on Oyster Harbour between the King and Kalgan Rivers, provides an ideal environment for learning and living and is a 'great place to be'.
