Wantirna College is proudly entering the next phase of its improvement plan, with the driving aim to meet the needs of the Wantirna community. Students leaving Wantirna College can go on to what ever future they choose, as is evidenced by last year's exit students who have entered degrees as diverse as Aerospace Engineering and Biomedicine or apprecticehips in building or automotive Our aim is to ensure every student has developed a strong understanding of themselves and a set of skills, behaviours and knowledge that lead to a range of future pathways. At Year 12 we continue to offer a wide choice of VCE subjects and VET and VCAL programs. 2010 saw the introduction of the SKEPSI gifted and talented stream at Year 7 and 8 and this will be expanded into Year 9 in 2011. This is supported by the Enhancment Program which extends and challenges our students to reach their potential. Over $10million in government investment, as well as locally raised funds, is seeing the modernisation of teaching spaces to enhance 21st Century learning. Improved recreational spaces, a cafeteria, a Science and Language Centre, and a Performing Arts space were all planned during 2010, and will be built in 2011. 2010 saw the development of a new approach to student engagment and behaviour. Students are active partners in setting the behaviour standards of the College, and in the process build lifelong skills in emotional intelligence, setting themselves up for future success in life. Our sense of community is central to who we are and to our aim for our students to become ethical global citizens.
