Warrandyte High School's mission is to challenge every learner within a safe and supportive environment. This core purpose is underpinned by our values of excellence, integrity and respect. In order to achieve this, Years 7&8 students undertake a program of core subjects and practical classes. As well, there are opportunities for students to learn in multidisciplinary project teams. The Year 9 program is enriched through electives and this is extended in Year 10. We offer a range of post-compulsory subjects including VET: both internally and through clusters of schools. Eligible students in Years 10&11 can participate in an enrichment program. Others may complete a GAP or Future Directions program, according to their needs as individual learners. Our 630 students come from a range of different primary schools; many travelling long distances by bus to reach us. Situated on the rural fringe of the metropolitan area, the community of Warrandyte is similar to a country town. The school has excellent relationships with local community groups such as Rotary, Lions and the CFA. Only a low proportion of students come from families where English is the second language. Warrandyte High School has excellent academic outcomes and 95% of students continued education and training. In 2010, there were 50 teachers and 19 Education Support staff.
