Highview College, an Independent co-educational secondary school established in 1974 in Central Victoria, has four participating Churches: Anglican, Catholic, Church of Christ and Uniting. The College aims to provide an accessible education to foster optimal growth of the whole individual and at the same time, strives to develop the Christian values of excellence, compassion, trust, honesty, respect, diversity, tolerance, understanding and inclusion. As the College's enrolments have increased considerably over the past few years, plans for some major building projects are currently being developed to cater for the broader curriculum and the students' diverse interests and abilities. The broad curriculum focuses on academic excellence, and there is a caring and nurturing learning environment, a commitment to Ecumenical sharing and an emphasis on the consolidation of literacy and numeracy skills. The senior students participate in a very supportive Careers Program that exposes them to a wide range of tertiary courses, careers and vocations. Technology is embedded into the Teaching and Learning Programs across the College through the extensive use of Interactive Whiteboards and programs such as Moodle. All teaching areas have Interactive Whiteboards and Data Projectors and students have access to computers in all of these areas. The excellent academic program provides exposure to a broad curriculum in Years 7-8, and the innovative Year 9 STRIVE Program aims to enhance students' motivation through experiential learning, choice, and guided-enquiry. In Years 10-12 an increasing number of VCE and VET courses are offered, as well as School-Based Apprenticeships. Other programs cater for students with special talents (Gifted) and those that require literacy and numeracy support.
