Gisborne Secondary College is a large, single campus Year 7-12 school, situated in the Macedon Ranges, approximately 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. It has 105 equivalent full time staff, with four Principal Class, 89 teachers (both full and parttime) and 33 Education Support Staff (both full and part-time). Originally constructed as a high school with a fully-equipped Technical wing, the College has always aimed to provide the best possible academic and practical options for students. The vast majority of our students continue their studies at University or TAFE after completing Year 12, while almost all others access suitable pathways via apprenticeships or meaningful employment. The College aims to ensure that individuals feel safe, secure and supported in their learning. All students have a Mentor who sees them every day and we have a pro-active welfare team, led by a Student Services Coordinator. We are seen by the community as having a strong focus on student wellbeing and we have excellent links with local support agencies. There are many and varied opportunities for students to participate in school life, including student leadership positions, the Student Union, the Rock Eisteddfod, House and interschool sport, camps and excursions. A $6 million building program has seen the construction of a new library, VCE Study Centre, Food Technology centre, Science wing and canteen. A new Sports and Performing Arts Centre will begin development soon.
