Kingswood College, a co-educational school of the Uniting Church, has a strong emphasis on knowing students well and providing a wide range of experiences that foster holistic development. Students develop a sense of their own identity as we prepare them to 'Know themselves... Be themselves', and to live purposefully in the community. The College, on a large attractive site, has three sections: Junior School - Early Learning Centre and Prep to Year 6; Middle School - Years 7-10; Senior School - Years 11-12. Each of the sections has a purpose-built centre which supports the development of a strong sense of community. Student encouragement is a key feature of the strong Pastoral Care system which involves teacher teams, co-ordinators and the relevant Head of School. The Kingswood Curriculum is future-focussed, recognising that the pace of change is rapid in our world. Focus is on the development of skills that prepare students to be lifelong learners. These skills include literacy, numeracy, thinking and creativity. A wide range of VCE studies, including French and Chinese, are offered. Two VET subjects, Hospitality and Multimedia are well established at the College. A rich co-curricular and enrichment program includes competitions, clubs, debating, dance, drama, music, sport, social justice and sustainability activities. Upper Junior School students participate in a local primary schools sport competition and secondary students participate in summer and winter sports fixtures as well as Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country Carnivals through membership of the Eastern Independent Schools of Melbourne association. Sport takes place within the weekly timetabled class times. Performance opportunities are through the Instrumental and Choral programme, Drama and Dance with highlights being Music concerts, House Performing Arts competitions and annual Productions.
