Circular Head Christian School is a non-denominational Christian School catering for around 380 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students. The school is located in Smithton, which is the centre of the Circular Head municipality on the far North West coast of Tasmania. A strong component of the area is its rural industries and the school accordingly has a Horticulture and Landscaping program from Kindergarten through to Grade 8. For students in Grades 9 to 12 we have a Trades Training centre which focuses on teaching Agriculture, Horticulture and Aquaculture certificate 1 and 2 courses.
Our Grade 11 and 12 section has a strong academic focus endeavouring to provide students with access to as many Pre-Tertiary subjects as possible and an equally strong vocational training sector (VET) with students being given opportunities to study a wide range of certificate courses.
The School's principal mission is to share the message of God's love and care for people through a strong pastoral care program and to provide a high quality education that meets the needs of each student. Our mission statement says 'We aim to develop fully the God given potential of each student enabling them to serve humankind as Disciples of Christ.'
As the first NBN enabled school in Australia, one of the strengths of our School is a rapidly developing Science and Technology program, which has been complemented by a new Science Centre reflecting Twenty-first Century needs, a 1 to 1 laptop program for Grades 9 to 12, a video conferencing room used for lessons, conferences, workshops and special educational links with places all over Australia, SmartBoards in many classrooms and laptops available right through the school from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
