Burnie Primary School forms part of the Burnie Education Precinct which includes UTAS and Hellyer College. The school is widely accessed by pre-service teachers. The school is a birth to Year 6 facility with 370 students and 38 staff. We offer Birth – 4 programs, and provide access to onsite Child Care and Out of School Hours Care facilities. BPS has a strong tradition of parent and broader community involvement. We offer inclusive education programs enhanced by small class sizes combined with extensive ICT resources, well equipped Library, Physical Education, Water Awareness and Music programs. A specialist instrumental and choir group program is also offered. Through federal funding we built a full size gymnasium with adjoining canteen, music room and amenities block which is utilised by the school and the community. The school has spacious grounds, new play equipment and both grassed and sealed play areas for children. Whole school approaches to positive behaviour support, high quality teaching and learning and a supportive school environment are common practice at Burnie Primary.
