Perth Primary School is located in the village of Perth, 15 kilometres south of the Launceston CBD in Tasmania's Northern Midlands. Our school has a long and proud tradition, having opened in 1833 as The King's School. Due to continuing growth, the school was relocated to Frederick St and then to the current site in Fairtlough St where we now boast a high-quality learning environment. Our beautiful park-like grounds complement our facilities and provide a range of play surfaces for children. We have a current enrolment of 265 students from kindergarten to grade six, as well as offering engaging programs for our youngest learners through Tadpoles and PKs groups. Our strong focus on literacy and numeracy across the school helps every student to develop the skills they need to be successful lifelong learners. Additional literacy support sessions assist students who are yet to develop competence with basic literacy. Teachers plan and offer exciting and engaging learning experiences to cover material from the Australian Curriculum, with a particular focus on history and science. Our strong focus on professional learning means all teachers are constantly working to improve classroom practice and to maximise the learning of all students. All children enjoy weekly learning experiences in physical education, music and library as well as opportunities to be involved in sports exchanges, assemblies, gardening, student leadership and LOTE. Daily physical education has a strong profile in our school as we work to help students develop the understandings and habits necessary for a healthy lifestyle. ICT features heavily in all classrooms, with PCs and interactive whiteboards in all rooms, Prep - grade six.
