Ringwood Heights Primary School is committed to continuous improvement and achieving excellence in all aspects of our learning and teaching. We are well regarded for the work we do using the Inquiry Learning Model within an integrated curriculum. The school is growing a whole school model within a multi-age structure. This has been documented in our VELS aligned Ringwood Heights PS inquiry manual, “Throughlines”. Our pedagogy has focussed on metacognition, project based learning for students and teachers, student voice, negotiation in inquiry and reflective practice at all levels. With a school population of 271, our staff profile consists of 2.0 PCO’s, 14 EFT teaching staff and 7.6 ESS component. Our SFO density rating in 2010 was 0.30 and our LBOTE proportion was 0.05. Our teacher satisfaction results are consistently higher than the state mean and the parent general satisfaction rate is 6.50, well above the state mean. Our purpose is to continue to promote an ethos where parents, students and teachers collaborate to provide a dynamic learning environment which challenges and engages all learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect, tolerance and creativity. Another focus is on student learning opportunities in an environment that is rapidly changing in response to complex local and global conditions. We are very excited about the addition of both our Early Years Discovery Learning Centre and our full size basketball multi-purpose hall that have provided additional learning spaces to broaden the range of learning experiences available to our students.
