At Plenty Valley Montessori School (PVMS) we guide the development of global citizens by educating students for the 21st century with a focus on peace and social harmony. The school follows the Montessori approach which supports and respects developmentally appropriate learning, promoting independence and developing social responsibility. This is the basis of our curriculum. We take particular attention to respect and support the natural laws of human development that begin from a base of scientific endeavour. The Montessori approach provides a curriculum which is tailored to individual stages of developmental learning and dispositions. Students have learning plans with set goals to assist them. We value international mindedness as a basis for social harmony. We value spiritual development in fostering a sense of wonder and are mindful of the children's need to express themselves through a range of media. Plenty Valley Montessori School is an independent school of approximately 160 students aged birth to 12 years together with 40 playgroup families. The current strategic plan sees this growing in the future. The school is located on five acres. Teachers are highly experienced with specialist training in Montessori. The school is currently planning the implementation of a Quality Assurance Program with the Montessori Australia Foundation. Classrooms reflect multi-age groupings so that 3-6 year-olds, 6-9 year-olds and 9-12 year-old students work together in collaboration with an emphasis on differentiated learning. Children experience the opportunity to be the youngest, middle and then senior leaders in each three year cycle. While academic rigour is pursued, due consideration is given to the holistic development of the individual so that interpersonal skills are consolidated through practical life and authentic learning experiences.
