Students are challenged to achieve their personal best in a safe and caring learning environment. At Lara PS we focus our learning and school improvement around a focus question. In 2011 it is: If we have a common belief about what makes effective teaching and learning, how do we design learning to ensure that we deliver consistently effective learning for all students? Classroom learning is supported by specialist areas in Information & Communication Technology, Library, Art, Physical Education and the Serendip Sanctuary Multimedia Experience. A range of additional opportunities and supports are also available. Lara PS has 35.5 equivalent full-time staff, 2 Principal class, 29 teachers and 7.5 Education Support Staff. Lara PS is well resourced with physical facilities. In addition to 21 ICT rich classrooms, facilities include a well stocked library, large gymnasium, music room, 2 computer laboratories and an art room. Our year 5/6 students and teachers are enjoying a new learning facility in 2011. Lara PS supports their school vision by a collection of 6 catch cries that form the basis of all learning. Lara PS values learners as leaders and leaders as learners. Student leaders grasp the opportunity to lead by a fine example and bring out the best in others. All teachers collaborate extensively around how to support the learning needs of individuals. The school offers a supportive transitions processes for students entering, moving through and exiting the school.
