Rockbank Primary School is a small school setting with a population of 60 students.The school has 6 equivalent fulltime staff: 1 Principal Class Officer; 4 Teachers and 2 Education Support Staff. At Rockbank Primary School our mission is to provide a learning environment that supports the educational, social and emotional development of every child across all aspects of their primary school lives and beyond, so that they are better equipped to: make informed responsible choices throughout their lives, make valuable and positive contributions to their community, and achieve their very best. Having shifted to the new site,in Westcott Parade in 2009, the challenge now for the school is to promote our new state of the art learning facility to the wider township of Rockbank and surrounding areas. In 2010 we began a strategic campaign of increasing our local profile through advertising, visiting local kinders and preschools and negotiating signage at the Leakes Road and Westcott Parade entrances to the new school site. We are developing a consistent whole-school approach to the teaching of literacy and numeracy. In the School Performance Summary, we have achieved positive results, particularly in terms of improving literacy and numeracy outcomes, but we recognise that we still have much work to do and are strategically using the resources of the EQUIP program to regularly update best practice and employ a literacy and numeracy consultant to assist us in maximizing our students learning outcomes.
