Mayfield West Demonstration School caters for students from Pre-school to Year 6 and offers a balance between academic excellence and creativity. The school's vision for all students is Learning For Life and ensures an environment where personal well-being and individual care are given to children of all ages. Students are involved in a variety of activities, including an extensive Creative Arts Program and Sports Program. Enrichment opportunities are provided to extend students in a diverse range of disciplines. A comprehensive range of technology, across the school, is utilised to enhance teaching and learning. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and there are several banks of computers, as well as a technology laboratory, that can be accessed by students for learning. As a member of, a group of schools called, Callaghan Education Pathways, there is commitment to working together to provide the best possible education continuum for all students. Our pre-school, primary and secondary transition programs are well planned and promote links to allow smooth and successful changes in settings. Mayfield West Demonstration School has established strong links with The University of Newcastle to support and implement programs for pre-service teachers. Staff demonstrate quality teaching practice and are often asked to conduct workshops at the university.
