MJLC's site is located in Shortland with our boarding facility located in Lambton, two suburb's in close proximity of each other in Newcastle, just 2 hours North of Sydney. The school has an enrolment capacity of 20 day students and 5 boarders and operates from our Mission Statement-CREATING QUALITY FUTURES TOGETHER. A registered Special School MJLC is accredited to deliver stages 4 and 5 inclusive of the award of the NSW School Certificate. At present the school is delivering stage 5 only due to the high referral base in years 9 and 10. The school caters to young people who are unable to maintain or have been excluded from mainstream schooling due to challenging behaviours, emotional disturbances and/or disadvantaged lives. The school provides a holistic service encompassing education, welfare and accommodation support. Individual Education Plans target students' educational needs through assessment and targeted educational programming and delivery. Case management supports the social, emotional, physical and behavioural needs of students whilst our boarding facility cares for those students who are unable to reside at home on a full time basis or who require residency in order to access school or family respite care. The criterion is needs based with applicants being assessed based on diagnosis, behavioural histories, basic need and time out of school.
