St Margaret's Anglican Girls School, a school of The Society of the Sacred Advent Schools Pty Ltd since 1895, is an Anglican independent school for day girls and boarders currently with 880 students from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 340 girls in Primary School and 540 in Secondary School. Boarding has been an integral part of the School's life and 170 girls from Years 8 - 12 make St Margarets their home during school terms. St Margaret’s achieves at high levels in a range of academic, sporting and cultural competitions and events. The academic results of Year 12 students are consistently above the State average, with a high proportion of students gaining OPs 1-15 (88% in 2010). The NAPLAN results also bear testament to the high achievement level of who consistently performs highly in all subtests in Years 3, 5 , 7 and 9. St Margaret’s is a member of the Andrews Cup, Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association Inc (QGSSSA) and the Brisbane Schools Rowing Association. In 2011, St Margaret’s again proved itself as a strongly competitive school, gaining the QGSSSA percentage cups in Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country and Rowing. In addition, to its sporting achievements, the school has a well-developed music, art and drama program. Specialist staff in a variety of subjects, including Art, Music, Languages other than English, Health and Physical Education, Technology and Religious and Values Education support core teachers throughout the primary and secondary school.
