Spensley Street Primary School is a proud and dynamic, Inner City State School, located in the east Clifton Hill community. It is a well established, multi-aged and open-plan school with a steady enrolment of 360 students. The school is organised into four teaching areas, each made up of students from Prep to Year 6. Our school has a clear vision that is shared by the school community - staff members, students, parents, carers and community members. At Spensley Street Primary School the multi-age structure, the school culture, the teaching and learning programs and all aspects of school organisation are designed to meet the social, emotional, language, cognitive, creative and physical needs of children. Within a socially inclusive and supportive teaching structure, class teachers, specialist teachers and support staff work closely with parents and carers to provide a rich, broad-based, developmentally appropriate and integrated curriculum. The school aims to provide quality child-centred programs that engage students, enable them to learn and to develop positive attitudes to themselves and their learning. The school offers an Outside School Hours Careprogram that reflects the philosophy of the whole school. Staff members include 15 class teachers and specialist teachers in the areas of art, music, Italian, library and student welfare/support, as well as Principal, Assistant Principal and support staff (EFT26). Spensley Street is currently undertaking a major building project to enhance the learning spaces for students.
