St James' Primary is a dynamic K-6 school working to achieve high standards of educational and social success. St James' is a coeducational Catholic School situated in a regional mining town with 13 classes from ES1 through to Stage 3. Within our school we have several programmes to support each and every child. We have a Pastoral Care worker who actively engages students who are seeking support and assistance in areas of need. The Seasons for Growth programme is well recognised and respected as a program to help children deal with grief as is the 'Yarning Circle' which was established by the Aboriginal Support Teacher to assist our indigenous students. The You Can Do It programme gives the children strategies to develop the skills of Organisation, Resilience, Getting Along, Organisation and Persistence. The school curriculum provides a wide, innovative and creative programme. There are many extra-curricular activities available in the Sporting arena. Children are able to participate in local and representative level in the areas of Rugby League, Soccer, League Tag, Touch, Golf, Netball to name a few. Children also have the availability to be involved in Active After School Sports activities three times per week. The cultural aspect of the school is supported through participation at local Eisteddfods, shopping centre performances, recitals, lessons and concerts with the Conservatorium of Music.
