St Michael's is a Catholic school situated in North Melbourne. Opening in 1857, the Sisters of Mercy ran the school from 1886 until 2002 when the principalship returned to the laity. Our current population of 133 students come from highly multicultural, multi-faith and economically diverse families. As a small, diverse and family orientated school, our mission is to unite as one family, embrace life experiences as opportunities for growth, foster self belief and the full potential of each person, empower all to act with dignity and purpose, engender a love for life long learning, and give witness to and celebrate the presence of Christ in our lives. St Michael's is committed to excellence and has won numerous Australian government awards in literacy and family-school partnerships. St Michael's has a strong focus on student wellbeing offering programs such as You Can Do It, celebrating the diversity of student talents through our arts. St Michael's is part of the Schools as Core Social Centres program, building relationships within the local and wider community. In 2010 a family school partnership convenor began at St Michael's to strengthen these relationships.
