Blue Haven Public School opened in 1999, servicing a growing local community. The school has modern accommodation in single and double storey buildings including twenty permanent classrooms. The school also incorpoates a wetlands area which is home to the protected frog species, Crinia Tinnula. The school's motto, 'dream, believe, succeed' reflects a strong school culture focussing on building resilience, social capacity and learning in a caring, stimulating classroom environment. Strong community participation is supported by a Schools As Communities centre located adjacent to the school. This centre opens three days each week and offers a range of services to build community capacity in the area of education for families and children from 0-5 years. A focus on literacy and numeracy is balanced by teaching and learning in the other key learning areas. Students also get the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities such as dance and sport. Award-winning environmental programs encourage children to respect the world around them. Parents participate in decision-making through attendance at P and C meetings, while some work in the canteen and assist in classrooms.
