Vermont Secondary College is a large, single campus, co-educational school of approximately 1,300 students with a focus on innovative curriculum, high academic achievement & a broad co-curricular program. The college continually promotes our core values of Excellence, Integrity, Responsibility, Respect and Tolerance to all members of the college community who provide us with an exceptionally high level of support. In our current Strategic Plan (2009 -2012) the college has adopted the underlying principles of 'Improving the stimulating learning & teaching environment' & 'Developing a holistic, comprehensive, systematic & integrated Years 7 to 12 student pathways and wellbeing program' to determine our future direction. Our mission is to promote the achievement of excellence in a learning environment that is safe, caring and accepting of diversity, and to develop lifelong learning skills that motivate and enable all students to achieve their individual goals and make a positive contribution to the global community. In line with these goals the college has recently implemented a vertical house structure, Learning Enrichment & Extension Program (LEEP) at Years 7 to 9, new student leadership model & support structure with a newly structured leadership team to oversee this change and innovation. VSC completed Stage 1 of a major reconstruction in 2006 while Stage 2 was completed in 2010. Purpose built facilities constructed in these major works included a new Library, Music Centre, Year 7 Centre, VCE hub, Flexible Learning Centre, 250 seat auditorium and refurbished art & technology rooms. In 2012, during the final year of our current Strategic Plan, we will continue to implement change while undertaking a Negotiated School Review to develop the next Strategic Plan (2013 – 2016) which will clearly set the ongoing development and future direction of the college.
