Alawa Primary School caters for a multicultural group of children in the Darwin suburb of Alawa. Alawa has strong school values "Learning, Caring and Sharing". There is a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy. The school has developed a comprehensive whole school Literacy program. Alawa Primary School has a functioning farm on the school campus. The farm concept has been a key feature of the school since 2003. The farm provides authentic learning for health, science, literacy and numeracy. All students have one farm lesson each week.In 2009, the school became the NT demonstration school for the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. This program provides students in Years 3-6 with hands-on experiences to grow, harvest, prepare and share food. Alawa School is also trialling the national KidsMatter program.
