Dandenong South Primary School is located in the south eastern region of Melbourne approximately forty (40) kilometres from the metropolitan city centre. On Census Day in 2010, the school had an official enrolment of 488 students. Approximately 90% of these students have origins outside of Australia and have a Language Background Other Than English. Around 20% of our students also hold refugee status with many having had little or no previous schooling. Dandenong South Primary School has a commitment to providing all students with a positive and engaging learning environment which will equip them with the knowledge, skills and social competencies they need for the future in order for them to become respectful and responsible citizens who contribute positively to society. The school community values: Resilience – Empathy – Diversity – Respect. In 2010, the school employed forty six (46) equivalent full time staff: two (2) Principal class officers, forty one (41) teachers and nine (9) Education Support staff. National Partnerships funding was used to build teacher capacity in Literacy and Numeracy.
