Tate Street PS is committed to academic excellence and the emotional and social wellbeing of its students. The staff work in a cooperative and reflective manner to continuously improve the quality of the teaching and learning. The school has 10.5 equivalent full-time staff: 1 Principal class, 7.1 teachers and 2.4 Education Support staff. We also have a full-time Teaching Coach who works closely with each Classroom Teacher enhancing their pedagogical abilities. Our curriculum is designed to cater for the individual needs of our diverse range of students. We place our strongest emphasis on developing the core curriculum: Literacy and Numeracy, but we also also respond to educating the students socially, physically, personally, spiritually and academically. We have a physical education/self esteem program, 'Bluearth', a drama program (Western Edge Youth Arts).We also have a Library Program, Art Program and Spanish is taught at some Grade levels. We also have a Gardening/Nutrition Program and Performing Arts/Music, which is enhanced by a Ukele Band and individual music tuition. Bike Education and an excellent Camping Program are also in practice. The school is also undergoing improvements in our Library/Interactive Learning Centre and we have planned installations of Interractive Whiteboards in 2 more Classrooms this year. There also exists a very strong community ethos with high levels of parent involvement in all aspects of school life. Tate Street PS offers its 130 students a safe and stimulating learning environment and a high quality After School Care Program.
