Established on its present site in 1870, Melton Primary School has a current enrolment of approximately 480 students.The school has 46 staff members (38.2 eqivalent full time staff: 2 Principal Class, 26.4 Teaching Staff, 9.0 Education Support Staff and 0.8 Student Support Service Officers). Melton Primary School has a strong tradition of commitment to, and involvement with, the broader community. We highly value our two-way bond of loyalty between staff and families. The entire school community is committed to fostering courtesy, pursuit of excellence, self-discipline and ongoing life values and skills. At Melton Primary School our staff are particularly committed to: - developing and implementing a consistent curriculum in literacy and numeracy which fosters high expectations and improves outcomes for all students, - creating a safe learning environment that encourages the development of confidence, social skills and motivation to learn and - developing students' skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for transition through the various stages of schooling. In 2011 we will continue to provide our whole staff with high level professional learning with the employment of two full time school based coaches, two 0.2 literacy consultants, one 0.4 numeracy consultant and ongoing participation by staff in the Western Metropolitan Region's Professional Learning Program.
