Wyandra State School began as a provisional school in 1898 and was officially ratified as a State School in 1909. This one-building multi-age co-educational classroom provides for students from Prep to Yr7 in the township of Wyandra which is situated 100 km south of Charleville on the Mitchell Highway. This multi-age learning experience develops skills of teamwork, sharing, cooperative learning and peer teaching. Our experienced dedicated team of teachers follows the QCAR framework with a particular focus on increasing student capabilities in the learning areas of literacy, numeracy and Science. We strive to increase the educational standard of students displaying learning difficulties and to maintain the educational engagement of our Indigenous students and students at educational risk of disengagement such as those with challenging behaviours. Student learning is closely monitored and adjusted to cater for the learning needs and learning styles of each student. Each year the students participate in these PCAP programs, small schools swim camp, sports camp, Environmental Education program and Cultural Pursuits program.
