Bairnsdale Primary School is committed to providing a quality education for all students and our students have progressed through the 2010 school year experiencing a range of learning activities which have expanded their opportunities. We have delivered a comprehensive curriculum with support and extension programs both within and beyond the classroom, thereby catering for a range of individual needs.We have a very dedicated staff which includes 8 classroom teachers, Reading Recovery, 2 specialist teachers (one delivering 2 specialist areas), 5 Integration Aides, 2 office staff, an AP and Principal Our school has been committed to literacy development through involvement with the Network initiative of Highly Reliable Learning Strategies delivered by Professor John Munro. Using these strategies teachers are working to identify learning needs, understand how students learn and explicitly teach to these needs. Our school values of integrity, cooperation, respect, friendliness, acceptance and support underpin all our interactions and our motto of “No Backward Steps” encourages an attitude of continuous improvement. In 2010 our school completed a diagnostic review and developed a Strategic Plan which outlined a four year improvement focus on Writing and Numeracy (Student Learning), Interpersonal Learning (Student Engagement and Wellbeing) and Personal learning (Student Pathways and Transition). The Government School Performance Summary indicates that we are achieving results which are generally similar to schools like ours.
