Hannans PS is situated in Kalgoorlie, 635km north east of Perth. It was established in 1992 and has extensive grounds incorporating open-plan buildings that include three teaching blocks each with central wet areas for a diverse range of lessons. A large undercover area houses Paddy's canteen which provides healthy meals every day of the week. We have 250 families from a range of cultural and socio economic backgrounds. Our supportive staff and parent body ensures the school environment is safe, enjoyable and conducive to effective learning for everyone, enabling us all to work as a positive, cohesive team. We are committed to the provision of an inclusive educational program that promotes social and emotional well-being and encourages positive self-worth. We provide strong and consistent discipline. Self-management and cooperation skills are actively taught. Students are trained as Peer Mediators, to help them develop their mentoring and interaction skills. Current priorities and initiatives include: Literacy, Numeracy, Social and Emotional Learning, Specialist Music and Physical Education programs, Wangatha Language in Cultural Studies and student leadership programs.
