Pinjarra Primary School in the town of Pinjarra, approximately 80 kilometres south of Perth is surrounded by rich pastoral land combined with the Alcoa mining operations. The school has more than 630 students. Social and emotional development is a focus with diverse needs catered for through an inclusive curriculum. We have a strong pastoral care system that supports students in their schooling. Academic support is provided by Literacy and Numeracy specialist teachers and assistants. Our Learning Support Coordinator works with staff to develop inclusive programs. Special programs operate in Music, Physical Education, Art and LOTE (Indonesian). Classroom and playground facilities are continually being improved and a modern Library was constructed in 2007. We have excellent computing facilities in every classroom and the computer laboratory has state-of-the-art equipment. The P&C Association has air conditioned all classrooms. Significant projects include: Learning with ICT; Multi Age Grouping; Behaviour Management and Discipline; Getting it Right (Literacy and Numeracy); Peer Mentoring; Friendly Schools and Families; Active After School Communities; and Family Links.
