Wanneroo Primary is situated in the northern outer metropolitan suburb of Wanneroo which was once an important area for the Noongar Aboriginal people. Originally the school opened in 1899, however, in 2005 it amalgamated with the junior primary and a new school was built with modern, contemporary facilities. Families come from a wide geographical area including rural lots served by school buses, established dwellings in the town and new housing developments bordering the town. Approximately 5% of students have a non English language background and 5% are Aboriginal. A strength of the school is its experienced staff whose collaborative approach is recognised and valued by the community. Specialist programs include physical education, music, visual arts, Italian and gifted & talented. Students and staff have access to a range of screen based technologies through networked facilities. The agreed values of respect, tolerance, self discipline, cooperation, courtesy and confidence are embedded in the school community. With its motto of 'Growing Together' the school is highly regarded for its strong partnerships in which students are supported to achieve and successes are celebrated.
