Kialla West Primary School is located 5 kilometres from Shepparton. Shepparton is a large provincial centre located two hours north of Melbourne. Students attend the school from the fast growing Kialla area and from the farms and small villages to the south of the school. The school has had increases in enrolment for the last decade we currently have 167 students. KWPS currently has 12.6 equivalent full time staff including; 1 Principal class, 10.2 Teaching, and 1.4 Educational Support Staff. The school’s values of Pride, Excellence & Resilience are promoted throughout the school and community. Programs such as Building Learning Power & Investigative Learning support independent student learning in the classrooms. The focus of student learning is for students to take responsibility for their learning. Teachers support this independent learning endeavour by providing a learning scaffold or framework for their students. The school community is supportive of the school and values its local community. The completion of a multi-purpose building has added a wonderful resource to our school and community. This building is utilised for our Library, Art, indoor sports, gymnastics and After School Care program. The school has just begun establishing gardens around the new building and entrance to the school.
