Greenmount Primary is located at the base of the Darling Scarp, 20 km from Perth's CBD. The school has 26 teaching staff and 19 non-teaching staff that engage around 430 K to 7 students. Purpose built buildings such as the Library, Music/Drama and Art rooms provide excellent facilities for our specialist Japanese, Music, Art and Phys Ed teachers. Greenmount has an enviable reputation in the Swan District for giving its children and parents opportunities to experience exciting educational and cultural programs including *a focus on Science which led to Greenmount being named 'Science School of the Year' in 2008 *the Japanese LOTE program which has provided strong cultural links with a sister school in Japan with exhange tours organised biennially *the Music program which includes a well supported choir and instrumental program *Greenmount's successful recycling program which has been extended and now includes a worm farm and vegetable garden. Plans also include the establishment of a native 'bush tucker' garden. Parent Nights and workshops are well supported by parents and the wider community. These events involve staff sharing their knowledge and expertise and providing information about programs running in the school. Specialists in Mathematics, Literacy and Science continue to provide staff with the latest best practice teaching strategies and support the implementation of engaging and effective practices in classrooms. ICT has also been a focus in the school's program and budgeting with Interactive Whiteboards now available for all classrooms and the LOTE/Library area.
