Eddystone Primary School believes that 'it takes a village to raise a child'. Our school ethos is focussed on creating rich and motivating learning experiences by tapping into the expertise and resources of the wider community. Our school has an 'arts focus'. Our visual arts program culminates in a spectacular 'Arts Show Case'. We have a choir that performed at key events throughout the year. Our specialist drama and dance teacher also organised a special 'performing arts assembly' and participation at the Wakakirri Festival which celebrated the achievements of our students in this area. In 2009, we had a numeracy specialist, a whole school incentive reading program, the implementation of FIRST STEPS reading and a whole school literacy plan. Our recent NAPLAN results demonstrated steady improvements in our students' literacy and numeracy skills. Our school is working hard to create an environment whereby students improve their literacy and numeracy standards in a nurturing 'family' atmosphere. At Eddystone Primary School we will endeavour to support all students so that they become valued members of the community.
