Greenwood Primary School, situated 20 km to the north of the city of Perth commenced operation in October 2010 at a new school site. The school brought together the Allenswood and East Greenwood Primary School communities in 2008 as part of a school amalgamation process. The new community now delivers teaching and learning in a state of the art facility, reflecting a 'new school for the new millennium'. Greenwood Primary School is located in spacious, magnificently landscaped grounds adjacent to 11 hectares of public open space that reflects the community's focus on sport and recreation. Students also undertake their studies in fully air conditioned facilities. The new school boasts the most modern facilities available in public primary schools. These include specialist art and music rooms, a library resource centre and an enclosed carpeted undercover area. The technology available to teachers and students in all classrooms is extensive. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and access to the latest computer technology. The school is fully networked, using both cable and wireless infrastructure. Students also have ready access to a permanent onsite dental unit. The school has an approximate population of 300 students from kindergarten to year seven. The student population is drawn from culturally diverse families, with the school actively working towards students experiencing rich and harmonious social development.
