Glenella, with its caring but disciplined environment, offers a high quality of education focussing on literacy and numeracy outcomes while fostering technological and environmental awareness that will enhance future and life-long learning. We are situated on a hilly five hectare site eight kilometres from the heart of Mackay. We possess a very diverse socio-economic population. The community is very proud of its school and has worked vigorously to ensure the children receive a quality education in a variety of composite and straight classes. The nature of the community is continually evolving and changing with the increased mobility of students. The curriculum is a vibrant offering of hands-on activities planned for through the Essential Learnings of the key learning areas. The mix of an integrated curriculum allows for a breadth and depth of opportunities to be capitalised on by our students. Environmental issues see our students involved in various community based activities. We are also active in the school grounds with a fruit orchard, vegetable gardens, beehives and poultry project. Our students are involved in a range of extra-curricular activities. The Parents and Citizens Association is actively supportive of the variety of school activities.
