School statement Immaculate Heart is a small co-educational Catholic primary school for children from Prep to Year 7 and is located on an expansive site in the West Ipswich suburb of One Mile. The community comprises about 185 children, their families and 25 staff members. Our mission at Immaculate Heart is to build and sustain a faith community which provides a holistic Catholic education for children that encourages academic, physical, emotional, spiritual and social development. We have a specialist curriculum support teacher who facilitates professional development and classroom teaching and planning. A specialist HPE teacher takes the children for sport, skill development and games. We provide the Blue Earth Program which focuses on problem solving, social skills and self awareness through physical activities which supplement the PE program. Our specialist music teacher takes the children for classroom music lessons and also organizes the school choir and participation in eisteddfods, performances in the wider community and the Catholic Schools Combined Choir event. We have this year begun implementation of the Beating Bully Bulldozer program which encourages the children to both build their resilience and to deal with many common incidents at school, at home and in broader settings.
