Esk State School was opened on 1 November, 1875. This was the same year the Education Act was passed meaning for the first time education was free and compulsory. At Esk State School we believe that first and foremost our core business is the education of children. We believe that a child's education is enhanced by establishing effective partnerships between teacher, parent and student and that this is supported by clear policy and guidelines. Equally important to us is the acknowledgement that learning happens best when students are happy and feel safe. Our Prep to Year 7 curriculum is continually evolving and changing to meet the needs of students. The curriculum is based on Education Queensland's Essentials Learnings. We recognise the standard Key Learning Areas. Our intervention program is designed to identify students who may be in need of extra support and indeed may need a program which will develop a gift into a talent. We have a range of specialist teachers. Our chaplain works to provide for the needs of students. The Parents and Citizens Association works closely with the school and community to support the work of the staff to help ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
