Orbost North Primary School is situated in a small rural town of approximately 2500 in East Gippsland. The economy of the town is based on tourism, Forestry, farming and timber. The school is set in a spacious, attractive environment, with well resouced buildings and equipment, including two new Modular five buildings, a gallery in between and a large outside deck, perfect for group work outside, under shade sails. thanks to the BER funded building renovation and enhancement program. Orbost North's core purpose is to provide an educational foundation that enables each child to achieve his or her potential. We aim to enhance community values in our students: self esteem, respect for others ,enthusiasm for learning ,willingness to strive and the confidence to aim high, make good individual choices and respond positively to challenges. We provide a comprehensive curriculum that includes extra swimming lessons, instrumental music, specialist music teacher, bike education, comprehensive camps program, local excursions, Landcare and Waterwatch, Snowy River Thinking lessons, a P-6 Indonesian program and various other programs that reflect the needs and priorites of the local community. Our priority focus areas of Literacy and Numeracy have been supported further by employing expert teachers in these fields to focus on their areas of strength with all the students from Year 2 to Year 6.in small classes in the morning sessions and slightly larger groups in the afternoon for other subjects.
