Nyah District Primary School is located in the township of Nyah West, approximately 28 kilometres north of Swan Hill. The school draws students from the surrounding areas including, Nyah, Nyah West, Wood Wood and Vinifera. The school aims to provide an education which will enable students to have a desire for knowledge, to have high personal expectations and to show tolerance and respect for others. The school motto "Together We Learn," is indicative of the learning partnerships which exist between students, staff, parents and the wider community. We aim to provide excellent teaching and learning programs which cover all areas of the curriculum, with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy. Students have access to specialist teachers in science, music and the arts. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is incorporated in classroom programs throughout the school and all students have one to one access to computers. Students and teachers utilise digital learning resources across all curriculum areas. The importance of students' social and emotional growth is acknowledged and supported through a variety of programs. Students have the opportunity to participate in a range of school camps and excursions, some of which are conducted in partnerships with other local schools. The school has 6.0 equivalent full time staff, with 4.3 equivalent full time teachers and 1.7 education support staff who have a strong commitment to ongoing professional learning.
