Situated to the north west of Hobart, New Norfolk has many of the characteristics of a country town. New Norfolk Primary serves a diverse population which is characterised by all the advantages and disadvantages commonly associated with rurality. Families live in a beautiful environment with a range of recreational opportunities, a long heritage and strong community identity. While some families face the challenges of poverty, limited access to services and restricted employment opportunities, New Norfolk Primary School strives to be inclusive of all. The school has undergone a decade of steady growth and community statistics indicate that this growth will continue into the foreseeable future. Literacy and numeracy have central places in our curriculum as does our aim to give all students the opportunity to develop their individual capabilities and talents. Our belief in our students' potential has been confirmed by the outstanding results individuals have gained in national competitions in recent years. Our Supportive School Environment is built on the 'You Can Do It!' concept from Program Achieve and the Positive Behaviour Support program that incorporates situation analysis.
