St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School aims to provide a positive learning environment where students can develop the skills they will need to be successful in life. St Joseph’s has proudly served the Cairns region since 1927, when it was established by the Sisters of Mercy. The school community of St Joseph’s is culturally diverse, enjoying a rich tapestry of languages, life experiences and cultural histories. St. Joseph’s School offers an engaging curriculum in all Learning Areas and provides specific learning opportunities with specialist teachers, in Health and Physical Education, Music, Japanese, English as a Second Language and Dance. As a CRICOS registered school, we provide education for international students and value the cultural exchange opportunities that are part of this program. We also promote many projects that enhance indigenous perspectives within the curriculum. Whilst at St Joseph’s, students also have the opportunity to be involved in specific extra-curricular activities such as football, futsal and netball teams, chess coaching, robotics, ICAS competitions, Reader’s Cup, choric speaking and choir. As well as providing an interesting and challenging curriculum across all subject areas, St Joseph’s School encourages students to share their skills and talents as a means of building confidence and community, empowering them to be full contributors to their world. On an annual basis we undertake a variety of community justice projects that support those in need. The focus of these projects can be local, within Australia or overseas.
