Aranmore Catholic Primary School, Leederville, is a double stream co-education primary school catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 6 with an approximate enrolment of 450 students. The school has a strong sense of community with an emphasis on pastoral care and acceptance of all cultural and social backgrounds and needs. Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies and the Rainbows Grief and Loss Programme are an integral part of pastoral care. At Aranmore Catholic Primary School we are committed to the cognitive development of all students. The school provides an inclusive, quality educational program in all learning areas and caters for students’ individual needs with the belief that all students can achieve high standards given sufficient time and support. There are special programs in place to support student learning such as: ? Reading Recovery ? Extended Mathematical Understandings (EMU) ? Learning support teachers working within the classrooms to assist teachers, i.e. Individual Education Plans, Curriculum Adjustment Plans. ? Accelerated Learning Program (Extension) Early Childhood Education is a strong focus at the school, incorporating a stimulating, creative and exploratory environment. A specialist music program is integrated within the school as well as external instrumental tutors working with students during school hours. An active Parents and Friends body supports the school which is of benefit to programs being implemented, for example, Sustainability, as we have a vegetable garden, composting and worm farms, which is maintained by the students, staff and parents. ‘GumTrees’, out of school and vacation care, is available for all school students.
